The Greens have welcomed news that the State Government has abandoned its plans for the SAPOL police barracks on the Adelaide Park Lands.
“This is a big win for people power. The Park Lands belong to all South Australians and shouldn’t be used by the Government of the day as a land bank,” said Greens MLC Robert Simms.
“The Park Lands were only on the table as a potential site for the new police barracks because the Liberals along with SA Best and One Nation voted with the Government to block Greens amendments to the Hospital Bill.”
“Labor should now rule out further Park Lands land grabs and back the Greens’ bill to provide State Heritage Listing to ensure that our city’s iconic green space is given the protection it deserves.”
