The Greens are calling for the State Government to make public transport free to boost patronage as new data reveals usage has declined 13 per cent over the last 4 years.
"Free public transport would encourage more people to use the service. The Government also needs to improve frequency and access to bring people back to the network. In some parts of the state, public transport is infrequent and unreliable and there just hasn't been the long-term investment needed to make it desirable for people," said Greens SA Transport Spokesperson, Robert Simms MLC.
"Boosting public transport is vital to reducing carbon emissions and congestion on our roads, the Government needs to take action."
