Government must act on Four Corners revelations - Greens

28 March 2023

The Greens are urging the State Government to review rules governing the conduct of SA real estate agents, following the revelations of last night’s Four Corners program.

“Many of the practices revealed in last night’s Four Corners will be disturbing to those buying and selling homes in SA.”

“Practices like underquoting, providing false information and not disclosing conflict of interests harm buyers and sellers alike,” said the Greens SA Housing Spokesperson, Robert Simms MLC.

“Purchasing or selling a home is one of the biggest decisions a person can make. Ensuring that potentially unscrupulous behaviour is identified and penalised accordingly is essential.”

“The Government must urgently review the legislation governing the role of real estate agents in our state to ensure that consumers are protected and that regulators have the power to discipline those who break the rules.”

Mr Simms plans to raise the matter in state parliament when it returns in May.
