State Government must step up on free RATs

13 July 2022

The Malinauskas Government must move to secure RATs for vulnerable South Australians following news free kits will be scrapped as COVID cases soar, say the Greens.

“It’s not acceptable for the State Government to wash their hands of this. As the cost of living continues to surge and SA faces another COVID wave, we don’t want vulnerable South Australians to be in a situation where they can’t afford to purchase a RAT and miss out on being tested ,” said Greens SA Health Spokesperson, Robert Simms MLC.

“Health Minister Chris Picton should be urging the federal government to reconsider. If they don’t, the Malinauskas Government should step up and make free RATs available to vulnerable South Australians during this harsh winter period.”

Up to 10 free RATs every 3 months had been made available for concession card holders.
