SA Greens renew free public transport call as fuel excise cut ends

29 September 2022

The SA Greens have renewed their calls for the state government to make public transport free, following the end of the fuel excise cut last night.

“The cost of living is out of control at the moment and many South Australians are struggling with fuel prices. There are going to be even more spikes in the days ahead following the end of the fuel excise cut last night. The state government could provide immediate relief by making public transport free,” said the Greens SA Transport Spokesperson, Robert Simms MLC.

“Free public transport, even for a short term period, would help ease cost of living pressures for South Australians doing it tough at the moment.  It’s time for the Malinauskas Government to step up and show some leadership here,” said Mr Simms.
