The Greens are calling for the Labor and Liberal parties to commit to investing in public and active transport, as a new report from the RAA reveals Adelaide drivers are experiencing the nation's worst congestion.
"It's hardly surprising that Adelaide streets are clogged with traffic, as the Labor Government have failed to make public and active transport a priority."
"We need a state-wide, separated bike network, regional rail and an extended tram network to ease congestion on our streets. This will reduce reliance on cars, reduce transport costs for commuters and reduce carbon emissions."
"Instead, we've seen both Labor and the Liberals pump more and more money into road projects that only serve to compound congestion. How is it that the state and federal governments can invest billions in the north south corridor project - yet public transport doesn't get the focus it deserves?"
"Adelaide is lagging embarrassingly behind when it comes to investment in public transport and cycling infrastructure."
