The Greens have renewed their calls for SA’s electricity network to be brought back into public hands as tens of thousands of homes and businesses remain without power while the clean-up from the weekend's storms continues.
“Our electricity system should be able to weather a storm. Privatisation of the grid has led to underinvestment in the maintenance and replacement of electricity distribution infrastructure that we require to maintain security of supply” said Greens Energy Spokesperson, Robert Simms MLC.
The Greens moved a motion in State Parliament earlier this month "calling on the Malinauskas Government to establish a commission of inquiry to examine reviving ETSA and returning South Australia’s electricity distribution and transmission network to public ownership."
