Labor’s new health ad blitz highlights need for Government advertising crackdown

16 September 2024

A new $1.9m advertising blitz seeking to bolster Labor’s health credentials highlights the importance of cracking down on Government advertising, say the SA Greens.

“Our state is in the midst of a health crisis and a cost-of-living crisis. South Australians who are struggling to access the health care they need, either through record ramping or the lack of bulk billing GPs will be bemused by the health utopia featured in these ads. Where’s the images of chaotic scenes in waiting rooms, where’s the images of ramping?”

“It’s pretty insulting that taxpayers are being asked to bankroll this Labor backslapping exercise.”

“It highlights why we need clearer regulation of this kind of advertising to determine whether it is in the public interest. I urge the government to back my private members bill that passed the Upper House last week.”
