Labor Ministers must come clean on SA Progressive Business event

16 October 2024

Labor Ministers should publicly disclose the details of any special policy briefings they provide to Friday's closed-room SA Progressive Business Forum, say the Greens.

The $500 per head event revealed in yesterday’s Advertiser will feature the state Labor cabinet and federal Labor Ministers and include one on one discussions and policy briefings.

"These events where people pay to access Government Ministers are an affront to democracy. In the interests of transparency, any Ministers in attendance should disclose the details of any policy discussions and who they have met with to the Parliament," said Greens MLC Robert Simms.

"Those paying $500 per head shouldn't have any special access to policy briefings from the Government."

In Question Time today, Mr Simms quizzed the Attorney-General on the matter. The Attorney-General confirmed that he would attend the event but wouldn't disclose the details of any discussions. Mr Simms also called on the Minister to reveal the location of the event.
