A move by the Greens to refer the Government’s Bill to build the new Women’s and Children’s Hospital on the Thebarton Police Barracks to a parliamentary inquiry has been scuttled by the Labor Party and SA-Best.
“Given the significant implications of this Bill for the Park Lands and heritage protection, parliamentary scrutiny is essential. It is very disappointing to see SA-Best side with the Government in the Legislative Council to wave through this Bill without appropriate consideration by a parliamentary committee”, said the Greens’ Health Spokesperson Robert Simms MLC.
The Greens plan to move a raft of amendments to ensure protection of the Park Lands and heritage as part of the new hospital build.
