A Greens motion for commission of inquiry into bringing back ETSA has been voted down in the Upper House today by the Labor and Liberal parties.
“Skyrocketing prices and unreliable supply over the last months has demonstrated that the privatisation of electricity has utterly failed South Australia,” said Greens SA Energy Spokesperson, Robert Simms MLC.
“A Commission of Inquiry could examine how to re-establish ETSA as a publicly owned statutory authority that could operate reliably for the benefit of consumers, not shareholders”.
A SA Productivity Commission report into renewable energy released this month found that South Australians are paying the highest electricity prices in the national grid.
