The Liberals should move to dump an election candidate who has said "same-sex marriage is not real" and described feminism as "demonic", say the SA Greens.
"The views expressed by the Liberal candidate for Wright are appalling and offensive," said Greens MLC Robert Simms.
"If you're seriously offering yourself up as the alternative government in this state, how can you stand by a candidate who expresses such abhorrent views?"
"It is a total cop out from Ashton Hurn as the leader of the Liberals to suggest that this candidate is entitled to hold these opinions. Surely he should be disendorsed by the Liberal Party."
"This is another sad reminder that the Liberal Party are turning their backs on mainstream voters and embracing the extreme right of SA politics."
"During this election we have seen the Liberals campaign on scrapping the voice to parliament along with the state's renewable energy target. They are even preferencing One Nation - despite all of the hate and division they have injected into this campaign."
"It seems Ashton Hurn and Josh Teague are doomed to the same fate as failed Liberal PM Malcolm Turnbull - another so called ‘moderate’ who was held hostage by the far right. Many South Australians will be dismayed by their lack of leadership."
