The Greens have welcomed news that the SA Housing Trust will make a comeback under the Malinauskas Government but say this must be more than just a rebrand.
"If this is simply reviving the name of the Housing Trust, without its mission, it will a very hollow gesture," said Greens Housing Spokesperson, Robert Simms MLC.
"The Greens campaigned at the last state election to bring back the Housing Trust as a public builder. We need a Housing Trust that's an independent statutory authority that's tasked with the construction of public housing for working people and those on the public housing waitlist. This needs to happen at scale to get the housing crisis under control."
