The Greens have welcomed the Malinauskas Government’s move to exempt the wages earned by GPs for bulk-billing services from payroll-tax in this year’s state budget.
“This is a big win for the community and GPs who offer bulk billing services,” said Greens Treasury Spokesperson, Robert Simms MLC.
“This will be welcome news for South Australians who are struggling to afford medical bills during this cost-of-living crisis.”
“We hope that the Malinauskas Government will also consider offering similar exemptions to other healthcare professionals that are impacted, but this is a very positive step.”
In March, Mr Simms introduced motion in the State’s Upper House calling on the Government to protect patients from the consequences of the NSW Supreme Court ruling on payroll tax.
