Greens slam axing of renewable energy programs in State Budget

1 June 2022

The Greens have criticised moves by the Malinauskas Government to axe renewable energy programs in tomorrow’s State Budget.

As reported in InDaily, Labor will move to dump the Home Battery Scheme and Switch for Solar programs in order to save $19 million.

“At this time of climate crisis, Labor should be supporting and enhancing programs like these that are designed to reduce carbon emissions,” said the Greens Energy Spokesperson, Robert Simms MLC.

“Axing these programs might deliver the new Government some budget savings, but this decision will come at a huge cost to our environment. South Australians will be dismayed by this short-sighted thinking.”
