Greens Call For Code Blue For SA's Homeless

7 June 2021

The state government should move to initiate a Code Blue response this week to support South Australians sleeping rough as harsh weather conditions hit the state, say the Greens.

“With overnight temperatures expected to fall below 8 degrees this week, the government should be doing everything it can to support rough sleepers,” said Greens spokesperson for housing, Robert Simms MLC.

It’s not acceptable for the government to wait until conditions worsen before taking action. There are people literally sleeping on the street in these icy conditions they need support now.

The trigger for issuing a Code Blue are detailed here

In the coming days weather overnight in Adelaide will be:

-Monday 12 degrees

-Tuesday 8 degrees

-Wednesday 8 degrees

-Thursday 8 degrees

-Friday 7 degrees
