South Australians shouldn’t have to choose between their iconic parklands and a new hospital, warn the Greens.
“In moving to seize the Park Lands and iconic heritage buildings to make way for a new hospital, the state government are showing an alarming lack of imagination,” said Greens Spokesperson for the City of Adelaide Robert Simms MLC.
“South Australians shouldn’t have to choose between a new hospital and our iconic buildings and Park Lands. Surely the government can find another site or alternatives that don’t result in the destruction of so much of our city’s heritage. This whole process makes a mockery of our state’s heritage protection process.”
The Greens have a bill before Parliament to include the Park Lands and city plan on the state’s heritage list.
