Greens MLC Robert Simms will reintroduce his Rent Freeze Bill in Parliament next week, as a new report by Adelaide University reveals the extent of housing instability experienced by children growing up in rental housing.
It found children in private rentals move home every 2.3 years on average, with around one in eight having lived in 10 or more homes by age 14.
Mr Simms will argue renters need greater certainty and stability, and that his legislation, which would freeze rents for two years before capping subsequent increases at inflation, would provide immediate relief for South Australian renters.
