Labor copies Greens homework by adopting second Greens policy in a week with plan to scrap public school fees

2 March 2026

The Greens welcome news that Labor has adopted their policy to scrap public school fees but say they should also match their plan for free school breakfasts and lunches in every public school too.

"This is further evidence that Greens pressure works. In just the last week alone, we've seen Labor adopt two of our policies. Last Tuesday it was portable bonds, today it's scrapping public school fees. That's hot on the heels of the Libs copying our 50c public transport fees last year," said Robert Simms MLC.

"We welcome this support for our policy. Scrapping public school fees has been a long-term policy for the Greens. It's been part of our platform for many elections, and we've consistently called for Labor to do it during this term. This plan would deliver real relief for SA parents."

"I hope that Labor continue to copy our homework. Next step must be to match our plan for free school breakfasts and lunches in every public school."
