The Greens say the SA Government should dump its freeze on public sector employment and instead rein in its $1.48 billion consultant bill.
"How can the Government justify freezing public sector appointments and putting so much pressure on public sector workers and our essential services when so much public money is being funnelled into private consultants?" asked Greens SA Leader Robert Simms MLC.
"It's particularly galling to see so much money being spent on consultants at a time when nurses and midwives are still battling for a fair go."
"The Government should dump its public sector job freeze and instead focus on slashing its consultancy budget. Keeping these services in public hands ensures they are accountable and working for the public interest."
