Greens call for commission of inquiry into reviving ETSA on 25th anniversary of sale

10 December 2024

The Greens have renewed their calls for a commission of inquiry into bringing back ETSA as a publicly owned utility, on the 25th anniversary of its privatisation today.
"The Liberals decision to sell off ETSA 25 years ago today has been a disaster for our state - delivering higher prices for consumers," said Greens MLC Robert Simms.

"While Labor have been rightly critical of this sell off, it's time now for them to put their money where their mouth is. The Labor Government should establish a commission of inquiry into bringing in back ETSA. This could look at what is required for SA to take back control of our state power."

"As we continue to grapple with the skyrocketing cost of living, now is the time for us to look at how we can have publicly owned power that delivers cheaper prices to consumers."
